Planner/Scheduler

Rangeland Engineering is currently seeking a Planner/Scheduler for our EP/EPCM/EPC projects in our Calgary office.

This role has overall responsibility for developing and maintaining schedules for and managing the day-to-day production work flow. The Planner / Scheduler demonstrates effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy at all times, with strong conflict management and resolution skills. Key responsibilities:

  • Develop project-specific Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Produce the project plan, define the stages and deadlines
  • Load the schedule with man-hours and cost, perform the leveling analysis
  • Review and integrate the project scope and budget with the project schedule
  • Support the project manager with project approvals and funding authorizations with required schedule milestones and baselines
  • Establish and maintain the project baseline schedule with the input of key project team members
  • Ensure project baselines are established, monitored, and tracked over the life of the project
  • Lead bi-weekly/monthly schedule reviews with the project manager
  • Lead weekly progress review meetings with project managers, buyers and engineering discipline leads
  • Review reports for consistency between the schedule and cost data and analysis
  • Ensure integration of the cost reports with the project schedule
  • Ensure key milestone dates are maintained and communicated
  • Ensure the critical path is understood and variances tracked
  • Identify potential delays and assess its impact to the project
  • Lead the integration of each contractor’s schedule in the master schedule
  • Manage the day-to-day workflow for all phases of each project and ensure communication with all departments involved so that deadlines are maintained
  • Provide solutions to planned scheduling conflicts immediately
  • Identify and implement planning system and process improvements
  • Improve forecasting tools and procedures through application of innovative ideas

Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field
  • Minimum 15 years experience in a planning and scheduling role

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and  experience in a related field
  • Ability to motivate teams within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, MS Project and Primavera P6 software
  • Sound planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy and people management skills
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in internal controls
