Process Safety Engineer – Calgary

Rangeland Engineering is looking for Process Safety Engineer with a professional and innovative mindset on providing services from conceptual design to FEED and detailed process engineering for different process and petrochemical projects. 

You will: 

  • Lead engineer to ensure successful completion of projects, from conception to commissioning, such as: 
  • Oil & Gas treating and handling facilities from wellhead to delivery; 
  • Gas sweetening and dehydration processes; 
  • NGL recovery, fractionation, treating and transportation; 
  • Hydrocarbon treating process; 
  • Hydrogen, biodiesel, biogas, CO2 sequestrations; and Petrochemicals and Polymer. 
  • Development of bowties (corresponding multi-disciplinary workshops to identify Major Accident Hazards and safety critical equipment); 
  • Working hand to hand with process Engineers, project managers and other engineering discipline engineers; 
  • Interface with clients and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure safety in design and later on during commissioning and in operation; 
  • Facilitate PHAs, including WhatIfs, HAZOP, LOPA and Bowtie Analysis as part of project risk management and Management of Change; 
  • Produce Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) for different projects. This includes proposing numerous risk reduction and mitigation measures, such as occupied building strengthening and siting in order to increase personnel safety; 
  • Identify fire fighting requirement and system design using NFPA codes; 
  • Facility Siting studies by focusing on the consequences of fire, explosion and toxic releases to meet the recommended practices outlined in API 752 and API 753; 
  • Evaluated events based on API 754 for use in Key Performance Indicators 

You have: 

  • P.Eng. registration with APEGA or equivalent. 
  • Chemical Engineering or related Engineering degree. 
  • Having skills using PHA Software. 
  • Experience in the design of small to large projects. 
  • Knowledge of safety design, and principles of process controls; 
  • Good understanding of work processes within all sized projects;
